ArchitectureOur beautiful Norman Gothic church building, constructed in 1948, has undergone several expansions over the years, most recently in 2007 when the congregation extensively renovated the Sanctuary, Chapel, Narthex, Lobby, Fellowship Hall and kitchen in order to better prepare our sacred space to meet the needs of generations to come. Wheelchair accessible front entrance and bathrooms, along with a wheelchair ramp to the Chancel were added, allowing us to fully welcome those with disabilities. Most striking in our sanctuary are the exquisite stained-glass windows, completed in 1960 by Giannini and Hilgart, glass artists of Chicago. The grand theme of the windows with their inclusive motif is “Christ triumphant over all the world,” with the Messianic Rose Window at the front of the sanctuary centering us on the Messiah who has come and will come again. The Office and Christian Education wings of the church provide ample space for our Weekday Preschool, Children’s and Youth Ministries, as well as providing our staff with office space from which to carry out their varied ministries. The church’s Community House, across the street, is used for church fellowship and education events, and is open to the community for civic, school or family events.
