Parent Minstries
PEGS (Parent Education Groups)
Parent Education Groups provide support and encouragement to parents so they can maintain a loving Christian environment in their homes. We focus programming on enhancing the moral, spiritual, physical and intellectual growth of our children and ourselves.
Who are we?
Membership is open to all, church member or not. In most recent years the membership has been primarily women, but many programs include fathers. There are small annual dues to help support programming.
We consist of parents of newborns through great-grandparents. Groups are formed based on the age of the eldest child (although you are welcome to attend any group meeting).
What do we do?
Monthly meetings are planned based on topics of interest to parents at that particular stage in life. Some meet during the day and others in the evening. Programs are varied and may consist of listening to guest speakers, sharing meals, outings, doing community service, but always allow time to share our joys and concerns.
We join together as a whole for special Advent and Lenten Services with delicious brunches. Crafters work year round on items for our fabulous Bazaar. We sponsor speakers of interest to our members and the community. Fundraising through Wreath and Plant Sales and our Bazaar provide funds for our programming, needs of ministries for children and youth at FCC and beyond.
How can I learn more and get involved?
While a call to the church office will lead you in the right direction, the current PEGs president will be thrilled to share more information about our very special organization. She can get you in contact with your group and even get you a ride to your first meeting. Please call Denise Morris at 708.206.0733.
