Center for Multicultural Communities
CMC began in 1996 when a dozen people from various churches in the south suburbs gathered for a 10-week conversation on racism: What is it? How did we learn our prejudices? How are they maintained? What is internalized racism? How are we all impacted by institutionalized racism? After completing the experience, the group wanted to offer it to others in the south suburbs. An organization was formed and facilitators trained. Several have come from FCC. The first executive director was and is a member of FCC and the board continues to meet at the church. The Center for Multicultural Communities continues to tackle issues of racism as they impact our area economically and institutionally, while it continues to build understanding, tolerance and acceptance across racial lines.

Diversity Task Force
FCC has an active task force engaged in exploring and living into the true meaning of our mission to “cherish diversity."
