Getting Connected
Participating and serving in areas of ministry deepens our relationship with God and each other, and allows us to grow as Christians. At Flossmoor Community Church we ask our members to commit to regular worship in addition to other areas of ministry, service, and personal and spiritual growth.

There are many opportunities for service and growth so it is important to reflect on where you think God might be calling you.  Where can you best use your God-given gifts and talents to best serve God, our church, and our community?

All of us want to make a difference; we’re just not always sure how to do it. This is where LifeKeys can help.

LifeKeys
LifeKeys is a series of workshops that helps church members discover their unique God-given gifts and find areas in which they can use these gifts in meaningful and purposeful ways. LifeKeys is an organized self-discovery process to help participants discover:
      - What they do best;
      - Where they do it best (the atmosphere they thrive in); and,
      - Why they want to do it (what matters and gives purpose to them).

The LifeKeys process, through a series of exercises, readings and reflection, helps us uncover our life gifts, spiritual gifts, personality type, values and passions. This God-centered approach helps us understand how God wants us to use these gifts so that we may grow in faith and service.

As LifeKeys author David Stark says, “You can find no path more fulfilling than the one that uses your unique gifts as God intended.”

LifeKeys is presented by the Board of Lay Ministries once or twice a year. For more information, please contact Sheila Yoder, Lay Ministries Chair, at 219.662.7125 or rcyoder@rcn.com.

Current Service Opportunities
Just like the diversity of God’s people, there is a diversity of opportunities to serve through Flossmoor Community Church. One-time service opportunities such as working a Sunday Breakfast Bonanza or all-church picnic can be balanced with long-term commitments that involve serving on a church board or committee. God’s people are needed to staff the homeless shelter held every Sunday evening in the church, pass on the faith to our children in Promised Land Sunday School, share their gifts with others in Adult Education offerings or small group leadership, provide beautiful music during worship, work on Habitat for Humanity homes, deliver Sunday morning flowers to the homebound . . . the list of opportunities is lengthy and has something to fit everyone’s gifts, time, and passion.

Current opportunities are always highlighted in both the monthly newsletter The Narthex as well as the weekly bulletin insert Faith Family Matters distributed at worship on Sunday mornings.  To discuss opportunities to serve and find the place God is calling you to at Flossmoor Community Church, call Diane King, Director of Operations for more information.
