About Worship

Worship is the most important thing we do at Flossmoor Community Church.  We gather each Sunday to offer our thanks and praise to the triune God.  While it is tempting to imagine that worship is something we do for ourselves, the reality is that worship is what we do for God.  We are indeed blessed and inspired as we worship, but the primary purpose of gathering is to thank and express our love to God, much as children express love to a parent.

In our worship we seek to connect with God, allow God’s word to shape us, and offer ourselves to live as Christ’s ambassadors of love and grace.  We come into God’s presence with humility and openness to hear God’s word and respond in ways that change not only our lives, but our world.  Our worship forms us in community, shapes our souls, and corrects self-interest as the Holy Spirit draws us more deeply into a loving relationship with Jesus Christ.  Through our worship we experience the forgiveness of sin, restored relationships and changed lives.  We seek always to be joy-filled, thoughtful, authentic, engaging and participative.
