One of the hallmarks of FCC is that we are a caring congregation. We welcome opportunities to show love, presence, support and spiritual care to our congregation and community. Our congregation seeks to be a presence and provide many forms of care when one experiences celebrations, sorrows, and difficulties. Not only does the Pastoral Staff provide care to those who experience illness, death, and life crises, but many within our congregation are mobilized through our Diaconate Board and Stephen Ministry to support those in need of care.
If you or you know of someone who has experienced an accident, illness, hospitalization, death, or just a tough season, please notify the church office at (708) 798-2800.
The Pastoral Staff responds to the needs of those in our congregation and community when one desires spiritual care or Christian rituals. Our pastors provide spiritual care through pastoral sessions, visitations, and prayer; as well as, performing baptisms, weddings, and funerals.
The Diaconate Board members support our pastoral staff by mobilizing our congregation to extend care in hands-on tangible acts of sending cards, making meals, delivering flowers, coordinating memorial receptions, providing transportation, and visiting hospitalized/homebound.
Pastors will always be on the front lines of care, especially in time of crisis. But there are always many more needs for ongoing, one-to-one care than pastors can effectively meet by themselves. Stephen Ministry is a national program that seeks to provide a biblical solution by equipping God’s people – the church – for ministry. The FCC Stephen Ministry is made up of everyday, ordinary people who are gifted and trained to provide confidential, one-to-one Christian care to individuals in our community who are experiencing difficulties in their lives.
In an effort to improve our caregiving, we are building FCC Care Teams. These teams will allow us to help those who need additional daily support. This approach allows the team to better understand the needs of an individual or family and share the responsibilities. We have started teams already and are looking for others who are willing to pitch in. If this is your gift and you seek to connect and serve in this manner please contact the church office.
Our church family is privileged to care for one another in times of difficulty. If you or a loved one are experiencing hospitalization, illness or a personal crisis of any nature, please contact the church office or one of our pastors so that needed support — be it spiritual or otherwise — can be provided.
FCC is a praying congregation and believes in its power to make a difference in lives and the world; therefore we provide multiple opportunities to connect to God and others through prayer.
To submit a Prayer Request or Joys/Concerns click here. Prayer requests will be prayed for by members of the Prayer Chain, FCC Pastors and Staff who have covenanted to pray and hold each prayer request in confidence.
There are many ways to participate in the Prayer Connection Ministry:
The Prayer Chain provides people an opportunity to intercede /pray for persons that desire prayer and/or could benefit from the power of prayer. If you would like to be a member of the prayer chain, click here.
The Prayer Groups provide an opportunity to intercede/pray for the specific needs and concerns of the church, its ministries, and its leaders. We currently have two prayer groups, both gathered during the school year to pray for the schools and our children.

Prayer Shawl Ministry
The Prayer Shawl Ministry provides comfort to anyone going through a difficult time by giving them a handmade knitted or crocheted shawl that has been saturated with prayer while it was being made. The instructions for making the shawl can be found HERE.
