Primary Objectives:

The Pastor shall lead the people of God in the ways of Jesus Christ, working in partnership with staff and lay leaders to accomplish the mission and ministry of Flossmoor Community Church.


Primary Responsibilities:

The Pastor, working collaboratively with the Governing Board, shall provide spiritual leadership and vision, administrative oversight and organizational direction to the overall life of the church, ensuring that all aspects of a vital and effective parish ministry are provided. 


As Head of Staff, the Pastor, working collaboratively with the other staff members, will supervise how the staff liaise with the Boards and Committees of the church:

  • Leading the church in living out FCC’s Mission Statement and Core Values

  • Providing for public worship (including weddings, memorial and funeral services) and the administration of the sacraments.

  • Making provision for Christian fellowship, service, stewardship, spiritual nurture and education

  • Caring for the pastoral needs of the congregation

  • Administering the Church Constitution.

  • Providing direction and supervision to all church employees.

  • Overseeing day-to-day church management, ensuring sound fiscal and management processes.

  • Providing for the well-being and long-range vision of the church.


Additional Responsibilities:

  1. Lead weekly staff meetings, monthly Leadership Staff meetings, participate in monthly Governing Board meetings, and regular ministry area meetings

  2. Work closely with the Chair of the Governing Board in providing effective leadership for the total ministry of the church

  3. Participate fully in the life and ministry of the church

  4. Serve as “church ambassador” in the community and region

  5. Maintain good standing with ordaining denomination


Necessary Training and Experience

      1. Completion of a Master of Divinity degree from an accredited seminary

      2. Ordination by a Protestant denomination

      3. At least 5 years of pastoral experience

  8.  Exceptional oral and written communication skills


Accountability and Review

The Pastor is accountable to the Governing Board through the Personnel Committee.  Performance review annually.



The Pastor is annually provided two weeks of professional development, four weeks of vacation, and sabbatical at the conclusion of five years of ministry.  This is a full-time exempt position with benefits provided as outlined in the Flossmoor Community Church Employee Policies and Practices Manual.
