Flossmoor Community Church is hiring for the part-time position of Maintenance Manager. The Maintenance Manager, in conjunction with the Director of Church Operations, is responsible for the general maintenance and upkeep of the Flossmoor Community Church campus, ensuring safe, clean, and proper order of the facilities and grounds. Applicants must possess maintenance experience of buildings and equipment, basic carpentry, painting, plumbing and electrical skills. We seek a motivated self-starter who is dependable, organized, thorough, and detail oriented. This is a 20-hour position and requires some flexibility, including being on-call in case of emergencies. 


Primary Responsibilities

  • Work towards achieving an overall pride in the facility’s appearance and upkeep

  • Responsible for overseeing installation, repair, and upkeep operations for organizations facilities.

  • Ensure buildings and facilities are fit for purpose and provide support and solutions when necessary.

  • Perform general maintenance, including painting, basic carpentry, simple plumbing, and electrical work

  • Check HVAC system and generator regularly to ensure it is in proper working order

  • Set-up facility rooms for meetings and functions with assistance from Day Porter

  • Procure all supplies related to building use and maintenance projects; distribute as needed

  • Monitor maintenance budget as requested by Director of Church Operations

  • Be available “on-call” for emergencies

  • Monitor and replace lightbulbs

  • Assist in yard work and upkeep, including snow removal when needed.

  • Seasonal Groundskeeping

  • Take out recycling, garbage as needed

  • Set outdoor light timers seasonally


Ancillary Responsibilities

Periodic review of the general condition of the building and provide recommendations to Director of Church Operations on needed repairs


Necessary Experience and Knowledge Base

  • Maintenance experience of buildings and equipment

  • Solid understanding of plumbing and electrical systems as well as carpentry

  • Painting skills

  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs.

Accountability and Review

The Maintenance Manager reports to the Director of Church Operations and is accountable to the Governing Board through the Personnel Committee. Performance review annually.



  • This is a part-time non-exempt position requiring 20 hours per week with some flexibility in scheduling required. Medical and Retirement Benefits are not offered. Vacation time and holiday benefits are outlined in Employee Practices and Policy Manual and can be reviewed with the Director of Operations.
