Multi-Generational Work Trip to Pikeville, KY
August 3-9, 2025
(deposit & registration due by March 26)
Who can go? We want this to be intergenerational, not just a youth trip! Anyone entering 9th grade in the fall of 2025 and older can attend.
Why Kentucky? We believe it would be a stretching experience to visit communities that are the polar opposite of our regular day-to-day life. We will work alongside vulnerable communities to create long-term stability and learn more about ourselves and the assumptions we may have for folks on the other side of the social-economical/political/theological aisle.
What will we be doing? Most of our time will include construction, yard work, food pantries, and working with seniors. We plan to enjoy some of the sights and sounds of Louisville together on our return trip!
What is the cost? Each participant would pay $455 at most, but we are confident our fundraising efforts will bring these costs down. Our goal is to bring costs down to $150 each.
How do I sign up?
1. Pay your $150 deposit to FCC by March 26 via giving Travis cash or check. Alternatively, donate a gift to FCC Online with the description "Work Trip" by clicking here.
2. Register online with Experience Mission by clicking here. If you are a child, parents have to sign a waiver online.
Who is organizing the trip and itinerary?
Rev. Travis Adams is coordinating this trip through Experience Mission, a well-known parachurch organization that emphasizes relationship-building and pragmatic assistance to communities in need.

FUNDRAISING EFFORTS

On March 16, FCC Youth will host a "St Patrick's Day Pastry Parade" following Sunday Morning Worship. Each round, one lucky participant in our "pastry parade" activity will win a baked good of their choice from a table filled with donations from folks like you! What is a cakewalk? It's simple!
-
We put 10 numbers on the floor in a circular manner.
-
Folks pay for a ticket to stand on a spot.
-
We start playing music. During the song, folks walk around the room from one number to the next.
-
When the music stops, participants stop on their number.
-
We will draw a number and if you are standing on it, you win a baked good of your choice from the table of donations provided by youth families and other church members!
This wonderful excuse to eat sugar during Lent (it's for the Lord/the children!) won't work if we don't have a table filled with treats! We are looking to collect cakes, pies, or 2 dozen of a homemade baked good (brownies, cookies, etc). Anything for a sweet tooth is a win!
Your donation can earn up to $50 for the Kentucky Work Trip, so let's get cooking! Sign up and bring your donation on Sunday, March 16! We appreciate your help in making this work trip come true!!!
