MEMBERSHIP

We are a congregation of approximately 450 members who gather to worship and learn, and scatter to love and serve. People from all ages, stages and life situations find a place in the FCC family. While approximately 30 Christian traditions are represented in our congregation, others come our way having little or no religious background. Some of us have the faith of mountains; others of us are nurturing mustard seeds. We are a family in which black, brown and white, conservative and liberal, young, old and in-between, tentative and certain…people of all sorts worship, learn and serve together. We invite all seekers to join us, whether you are deep into your journey or just beginning.

Our Newest Members

We are so excited to introduce to you our newest members. Please take a minute to meet these faces and read a bit about their background and interests. It is our hope that this page will help us connect new faces and names to the people with whom we worship, learn, share fellowship and serve. Welcome to the FCC family!

Membership at Flossmoor Community Church is a uniquely personal experience. Our Welcome Statement, Mission and Vision Statements best describe Flossmoor Community Church — a community of faith, celebrating diversity with members from a wide variety of religious backgrounds.  Through membership, worship attendance and participation, you will enhance the richness of your own spiritual journey. You will gain the strength that comes when you know you are not alone and the courage to continue your journey of faith in the world. Your efforts for the common good will multiply by joining hands and hearts with others. Membership enriches your life as you receive God’s love and give of yourself in response.

We encourage a spirit of hospitality and belonging at FCC, therefore we welcome those who feel called to join our church family through the following process:

Newcomer's Coffee

Held periodically throughout the year, our Newcomer's Coffee is an informal gathering after worship that provides opportunity to meet church members and staff, learn about the ministry and mission of our active congregation, and ask any questions.  Newcomers Coffee is hosted by the Board of Lay Ministry and all are welcome!

Membership Class

Are you interested in exploring membership at Flossmoor Community Church?  This one-session class is designed to give an overview of the church and the many opportunities for worship, education, fellowship, care, and outreach.   Rev. Julie Van Til and Betsy Hanzelin facilitate the class and our gathering typically lasts about two hours.  Childcare is available upon request.  New Members  join the church during worship in the weeks following the Membership Class.

For more information, or to register for a Membership Class, please contact Betsy Hanzelin, Executive Director of Church Ministries at (708) 798-2800, ext. 18 or email.

Baptism

We baptize children, youth, and adult members during worship on Sunday mornings, as we believe baptism is a commitment to support the spiritual growth and development of those who are a part of our congregation.  Those seeking baptism may make arrangements with the pastors. Please call the church office (708) 798-2800 for more information.
