Welcome to Flossmoor Community Church
Flossmoor Community Church is God’s house. All are welcome here.
People who attend our church come with many different worship experiences and a wide range of faith perspectives. Some come with no church or religious background. We welcome all at Flossmoor Community Church.

What to Expect
Visiting a new church for the first time can be challenging. Below is information that we hope will help you feel more comfortable.
Flossmoor Community Church is an inclusive community of faith, called to embody God’s love through worship, study, giving, and service. We celebrate diversity and believe that all people are included in God’s unconditional love and grace.
When you visit, we hope you’ll sign the Welcome Pad. If you provide your address we can welcome you personally with a letter. If you would like a welcome call, please provide your phone number.
Join us in our Gathering Space just outside the Sanctuary after worship for coffee and fellowship. We’ll welcome you with baked goods and our “FCC Hosts” will be happy to show you to classes for children, youth, and adults.
We won’t ask you to stand during worship or be the only one wearing a name badge. We recognize that many visitors appreciate anonymity. We also will not push you to become a member of Flossmoor Community Church, although we hope you will consider becoming a part of our church family if our church meets your spiritual needs through worship and programs.

How do I get there? Where do I park?
Flossmoor Community Church is located at 2218 Hutchison Road in Flossmoor, IL. Parking is available in the lot of the adjacent Community House and along the residential streets surrounding the building.
Handicapped parking and courtesy spaces for those who have a need for closer parking are available along Travers, in our main parking lot, and in the lot behind the church (enter from Travers Lane.) Many map programs do not place this address correctly, so we suggest you search for the intersection of Carroll Pkwy & Hutchison Road.
What happens during Sunday worship?
As you enter the church you may be welcomed by one of our greeters or FCC Hosts at our Welcome Desk and Information Center who can provide you with more information about the church. Our ushers will give you a worship bulletin to guide you through the service.
The bulletin will have the words to anything spoken aloud by the congregation, including responsive readings and prayers. Hymnals and Bibles are available in the pews or words to hymns will be printed in the bulletin or on overhead screens. Your bulletin will also indicate when the congregation stands.
Communion is offered every first Sunday of the month during worship. Our communion table is open to everyone — people of all faith backgrounds, baptized or not, confessed or not, sure or not. All are welcome at the table. Some months you are invited to come forward to receive communion by intinction, and at other times we serve to the pews.
In all of our worship services we pass the offering plate to give our congregation the opportunity to support the church’s ministries. We welcome gifts no matter the amount, encouraging our congregation to give with appreciation for the many gifts we have been given. We are also very mission-oriented and frequently have opportunities to support one of our important missions.
Do you offer childcare or Sunday school?
Flossmoor Community Church is well-known for their ministries and programs for infants, children and youth. All are welcome and valued at FCC. Childcare for children birth to age 2 is available all morning. Parents are welcome to stay with their young child if that will help with their comfort on your first visit.
We welcome young children in worship. However, if you feel you need to leave because of a fussy child, you can hear the worship service in the Bell Chapel which is out the back doors of the Sanctuary and through the Gathering Space.
Sunday school is offered at 11 am for ages 2 – 6th grade and our Worship Wigglers program provides a place for children during worship. Parents can walk with their children, but you will also see children eagerly leaving with their classmates where they will be greeted in the hallway by their Sunday school leaders.
Youth groups for 7th grade through Sophomore year meet at 11 am. Groups and locations are:
• 7th & 8th grade/Tribes: 2nd Floor near top of middle staircase in Room 23.
• 9th grade/Disciples Confirmation: 2nd Floor near top of middle staircase in Room 22.
• 10th grade/Sophs: 3rd floor at the top of the staircase off front door in the Tower Room.
High School Juniors & Seniors assist with the leadership teams that lead the four youth groups. Leadership Teams meet Wednesday nights at 7:30 pm.
What should I wear?
Some people like to dress up for church, others dress more casually and all of us respect each other and our shared commitment to worship together. Please wear whatever you are comfortable wearing.
Should I bring a Bible?
You are welcome to bring your Bible if you wish. Anything read by the congregation will be printed in the worship bulletin. Our ministers at Flossmoor Community Church often reference the New Revised Standard Version or Common English Bible. We also provide Bibles in our pews.
How long does worship last?
Our Sunday morning worship service lasts about an hour.
Is there a coffee hour or fellowship time after church?
Before and after worship we offer fellowship and coffee in the Gathering Space. We invite you to stick around for awhile and meet others. Stop by the Welcome Center to introduce yourself. There you will find information about various programs and upcoming events.
Do you offer a Sunday morning small group experience for adults?
Adult Education classes are offered most Sunday mornings at 11 am, from mid-September through the beginning of May. All are open to all with no need to register in advance. Other Bible studies and adult learning programs meet throughout the week.
Is the church handicap accessible?
Yes. A handicap ramp is available at our front entrance (on Hutchison). Parking in the rear parking lot (off of Travers) will bring you close to our elevator and access to all levels of the church, except the Balcony and Tower Room.
